HASKELL COUNTY & NORTHERN JONES COUNTY
Find your place.
Get to know the area.
Choosing a home means choosing the routes and routines around it. Use this guide to compare Haskell, Stamford, and the surrounding communities before narrowing your rental or future home search.
Our current rental listings focus on Haskell and Stamford. Communities in this guide are location comparisons; their inclusion does not mean we have a home available there.
AROUND HASKELL
Haskell County communities.
Haskell is the county seat. The wider county includes smaller towns and rural communities, so compare the actual address with the places you need to reach rather than treating every Haskell County home as the same location. Haskell County’s official overview ↗
- Haskell
- A starting point for a search in the county seat. Our Haskell rental page shows current homes with photos and property-specific details. If you are moving for a project, confirm the worksite entrance before comparing a commute.
- Rule
- West of Haskell along US 380, Rule is worth including when comparing locations on the county’s western side. Check your east–west travel pattern alongside the trips you expect to make toward Stamford or a worksite.
- Rochester & O’Brien
- These communities lie in northwestern Haskell County along the SH 6 corridor. If this part of the county fits your plans, map your regular destinations from the specific home, including shopping, appointments, and your workplace.
- Weinert
- Weinert is in northern Haskell County on US 277. Compare that location with Haskell and Stamford using the same destination and arrival time; a county-wide search can involve different daily routes.
- Sagerton
- Sagerton is in southwestern Haskell County near SH 283 and FM 1661. When comparing a rural-area address, confirm the route to the property, parking, and which utility and internet providers can serve that exact location.
- Paint Creek
- The Paint Creek community is in southeastern Haskell County near FM 600. Use the actual home address when checking services and daily travel. A nearby school or community name does not by itself confirm a property’s school assignment.
AROUND STAMFORD
Northern Jones County & nearby routes.
Stamford spans the Haskell–Jones county line, with most of the city in Jones County. Here, “northern Jones County” describes the comparison area around Stamford, Hamlin, Avoca, and Lueders; it is not a separate government district.
- Stamford
- Compare Stamford rental homes if this location suits your routine. For a future purchase, Reunion Ranch is a proposed Stamford community. Current rentals and future development plans are separate offerings.
- Hamlin
- Hamlin is west of Stamford along SH 92, on the northwestern side of Jones County. When comparing the two towns, consider the direction of your worksite and your other regular trips, rather than assuming either is the shorter drive.
- Avoca & Lueders
- Avoca and Lueders lie southeast of Stamford along SH 6. They provide useful location context for a search on the northeastern side of Jones County. Verify a particular address and its service providers before treating it as interchangeable with a Stamford home.
Anson, the Jones County seat, is farther south in the central part of the county. It is broader county context rather than part of the northern focus of this guide. Jones County information ↗
BEFORE YOU CHOOSE
Compare the details that shape your day.
- Use your real destination. For a work move, ask for the site entrance and expected shift time. Check the route from a published property address; coming-soon street addresses are shared once a home is marketed.
- Confirm services at the address. Ask who provides water, electricity, trash service, and internet, which accounts you must set up, and which costs the lease includes.
- Match the home to your dates. Confirm move-in readiness, lease length, pets, appliances, parking, and household needs. These details vary by home, regardless of town.
- Plan a visit when possible. Review current photos, ask for a viewing, and check routes and services before deciding. DriveTexas ↗ provides TxDOT road-condition information.
